Montco Sheriff to hold 3rd Annual Sheriff’s Office Scholarship Fund golf event

Norristown, Pa. (July 12, 2018) – Montgomery County Sheriff Sean P. Kilkenny announced the 3rd Annual Sheriff’s Office Scholarship Fund golf outing fundraiser to be held on August 12, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., at Blue Bell Country Club. The Fund benefits employees and their families who are completing degree programs at Montgomery County Community College.

“We’re excited that we were able to award our first scholarship last year,” said Kilkenny. “As a trustee of the College, I am proud that many of our outstanding employees are already alumni of the College’s police academy and degree programs.”

Though it’s not required to have a college degree to work in the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Kilkenny encourages his employees to reach high for their professional goals.“

Our residents reap the benefits when my staff is operating at its highest level,” said Kilkenny.

There are several sponsorship levels available, in addition to lunch and dinner only options. In-kind donations to be raffled during the event are also welcome.

“Our goal this year is to raise $30,000,” said Kilkenny. “That amount would cover almost all of the costs of tuition and fees for a two-year degree program for three of our employees.”

Golf event sponsorships and direct fund donations are partially to fully tax-deductible with assistance from the MCCC Foundation. The Foundation supports scholarships, grants, emergency funds, enrichment programs, and activities at the College.

Current employees, previous employees with more than ten years of service, and immediate family members are eligible to apply. Students will not be required to show financial need. However, they must be enrolled in a degree program at the College and be in good academic standing.
